The two storey brick veneer shack was recycled with a new skin that absorbed the eaves and deepened the reveals to the window opening to create excellent thermal insulation and strong contrast to the new steel & cement pavilion joined by an outdoor dining terrace on a perforated mesh floor.
This was an alterations & additions to an existing house on a steep sloping block overlooking bushland in Sunshine Beach. The challenging task was to retain the language of construction details on the existing house and refine the usable space to suit the current needs of the client.
This design project was designed with a Master Plan and built in stages. Most of the alterations create well oriented outdoor living spaces expanding the use of the old house.
